Wichita Center for the Arts Originally founded as the Wichita Art Association in 1920, this is the oldest and most comprehensive visual and performing arts organizations. For more than 80 yeast, the center ahs made art and art education available to Wichita and the surrounding communities. The center offers a 14,000 sf gallery with annual exhibitions showcasing regional and national artists. The center's 484 seat Irene Vickers Baker Theatre provides adult and school-aged audiences opportunities to experience theatrical performances. Friends University Friends University is located just west of downtown Wichita. The 54-acre park-like campus is well known for the Davis Administration Building, which was built from 1886 to 1887. The Romanesque building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976. President's College School of Law The special mission of the Law School is to provide a part-time Juris Doctor program to a diverse student body. They are the only part-time law school in Kansas and the only law school in south-central Kansas. The program is a great advantage for those students who are already working, who need to work while attending law school, or who have families or other obligations that prevent them from attending law school on a full-time basis. Newman University Newman is a private, Catholic liberal arts university located in Wichita, with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. Wichita State University WSU is a public university-and the only metropolitan university- in the Kansas Board of Regents' system. Indian Center Museum Arts and crafts are collected, preserved and exhibited here in order to illustrate the heritage and culture of Native Americans. The Kansas African-American Museum Formerly the First national Black Historical Society of Kansas, this organization was formed in 1974. This historical society houses exhibits on the heritage of early Wichitans, buffalo soldiers and inventors. 601 N. Water, 262-7651
Kansas Aviation Museum Originally the home of the Wichita Municipal Airport Terminal, this museum now chronicles the growth and development of general aviation in Kansas. Airplanes built by Cessna, Beech, Learjet, and many more manufacturers are featured. 3350 George Washington Blvd, 683-9242

Lowell D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology Located at Wichita State University Anthropology Department, the museum's exhibitions include "China's Minority Nationalities," which depicts the different ethnic groups of China and "Desert Dwellers of the Middle East." Great Plains Nature Center The Great Plains Nature Center is a join venture between the U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service; Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks; and the City of Wichita, Department of Parks and Recreation. The center provides an educational opportunity for the public to learn about natural resources, especially the wildlife and habitats of the Great Plains region.
